FIRE LACROSSE

Over the last few seasons the number of Samo players in our various programs has gone up steadily. As a results, we are excited to announce our new Fire Santa Monica program that will be heavily geared towards supporting Samo HS, and to help the team be as well-prepared as possible for Spring Season. At the same time, we realize everyone is super busy and we do not want to over-train. Please take a look at the information below. We have put a lot of thought into the creation of this program.

Practice Schedule – Fall/Winter season is vastly different from summer season. Players are in school, have a much higher workload and thus, much higher stress levels. Planning a practice schedule that fits well with this reality is essential. In the past we have found that weekday evening practices are not ideal because a 7-9pm schedule would really cut into homework time and bedtime would get pushed back. Likewise, Friday evening sessions are poorly attended because many players don’t want to miss out on school football games. We also want to be mindful of families’ holiday schedules and make sure we do not practice over either Thanksgiving or Winter Break. 

Below is our UPDATED practice schedule based on the final city field permit. All sessions are 6-8pm at Belmar Park in Santa Monica:

• Sunday, November 5 – NO PRACTICE – TOURNAMENT (POTENTIAL MAKE UP PRACTICE)
• Sunday, November 12
• Sunday, November 19 – NO PRACTICE – THANKSGIVING BREAK
• Sunday, November 26 – NO PRACTICE – THANKSGIVING BREAK
• Sunday, December 3
• Sunday, December 10 – NO PRACTICE – TOURNAMENT (POTENTIAL MAKE UP PRACTICE)
• Sunday, December 17 – NO PRACTICE – WINTER BREAK
• Sunday, December 24 – NO PRACTICE – WINTER BREAK
• Sunday, December 31 – NO PRACTICE – WINTER BREAK
• Sunday, January 7 – POTENTIAL MAKE UP PRACTICE

Tournament SCHEDULE – This schedule is centered around offering appropriate levels of competition, while keeping things as cost effective as low as possible. Our proposed Fall/Winter tournament schedule is listed below. Tournament participation is NOT mandatory, but highly recommended. Our goal is to send a team to one tournament:

• Santa Barbara Fall Brawl, November 4 & 5, Polo Grounds – Santa Barbara
• SoCal Showdown, December 9 & 10, Galway Downs – Temecula

COSTS & REGISTRATION – Below are the components of the season and their respective costs:

• Training Membership: $355 (practices, coaching & field space)
• Santa Barbara Fall Brawl: $335 (tournament fees, coaches stipend & travel)
• SoCal Showdown: $355 (tournament fees, coaches stipend & travel)
